Pastor John +

Dear friends in Christ,

It has been our fervent hope that by this time we would be past the danger presented by our invisible enemy – COVID-19.  Certainly, the community of Emmanuel Lutheran Church has done its share – complyiing with good safety and common sense, and having a very high rate of vaccinated people.  As far as I know there have been no serious Covid-19 infections among our members, volunteers, or others who access Emmanuel’s facilities.

It comes with regret, however, that our region is once again beset by this stubborn disease, and we at Emmanuel are planning to take some precautions in our building which the Church Council has unanimously authorized at its meeting on Sept. 13.  We didn’t take this action lightly and it took two months of prayerful consideration to come to our conclusion.  In light of the rise in local cases, and the pressure that is placing on local hospitals, we have made the following decisions regarding use of Emmanuel’s building for the coming weeks.

1. Outdoor worship, weather permitting through October 17, 2021
2. Self-directed and self-enforced socially distanced seating in worship
3. Outdoor gatherings, weather permitted for Rally Weekend. (9/24-9/26)
4. If we must move indoors due to weather:
       a. No heat or A/C—windows opened and fans on.
. Self-directed and enforced socially distanced seating.
       c. Mandatory Masking for all in attendance.
(Limited masking for those leading worship)
       d. Suspension of Coffee Hour.
5.  Groups of 5 or more must wear masks indoors when gathering together.

Please remember that you have the option of participating in
worship online – live or as a recorded service from our Facebook page or Website Feed.

We hope these restrictions will be short-lived.  We will review this decision in 4 weeks and may modify them depending on data available at that time.

If you have not been vaccinated, or are eligible to receive the recommended booster – please don’t hesitate.  So many people who have gotten Covid recently are regretting their decision to not be vaccinated.  Immunization is the very best way we can work together to put this pandemic behind us.

Of course, if you have any questions please ask me or another Council Member.

May God keep us safe as we face this surge together.
In Christ,

+ Pastor John +
