Emmanuel’s E-Meal Ministry goes On the Road for this year’s Hope Festival along with our partner:

In just 5 months, the E-Meal Ministry at Emmanuel Lutheran Church has become one of the largest food relief programs in our region.

Join us for a special volunteer opportunity at this year’s Hope Festival on the grounds of Franconia Mennonite Church on Route 113 in Franconia Township.

We plan to give out 1,000 + meals to neighbors in need and raise awareness of the increasing problem of hunger in our region.

Let’s take advantage of our late summer and early autumn weather to worship in-person. We’ll gather in our back parking lot to worship “tailgate style”. Bring your own comforts for outdoor worship: chairs, tables, umbrellas, water, masks – whatever you need to be comfortable outdoors.

Join us as we re-gather the community in a safe environment, with social distancing, safe Holy Communion practices, and fellowship. We’re not “out of the woods” yet – but we can gather “out in the woods” ☺

We hope to have a plan to move safely indoors by October, but that is not yet settled. We’re taking things one month – even one week at a time – for now. In case of inclement weather, we will announce on Saturday evening by 6PM if we cannot hold outdoor worship. In that event, worship will be “online only” as we have been doing. Meanwhile – let’s pray for good Sunday weather for the month of September.

It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. Here we are on the last weekend in August. Families are getting ready to go back to school – or maybe not – or maybe part-time – or maybe remote learning – or maybe all of the above depending how it goes.

Few things were etched like granite in our calendars like Back-to-School time. Yet, in a pandemic, even school has become uncertain, difficult to plan for, risky and controversial. Let’s devote some time in prayer this week for all those involved in getting back to school – teachers, students, administrators, bus drivers, parents and staff. All these people will be tested as schools try to do what they do – educate our young people – our next generation of leaders.

At Emmanuel, we remain in a holding pattern when it comes to the certainty of in-person worship. We are hopeful that good weather will allow outdoor worship for at least the month of September.

Most of what follows is a reminder of what we’ve been doing to stay connected since March, with some small changes or additional information

1. There will be no Emmanuel “office hours” until further notice. If you need access to the building, or need to speak with Pastor John, please call him directly at 914-275-3106.

2. Even when we go back to in-person worship, we will continue worship Services by live streaming  or recorded video on our website or Facebook Page, both of which are listed on the inside front cover of this bulletin.

3. In September, the Sunday Schedule will look a little different than it has. We hope to worship outdoors, tailgate style, as we did on July 5. Worship will be held in the back parking lot near the Oak Tree. More information can be seen above. When we are worshipping outdoors, this will be the schedule.

10:00 AM – Worship (In-Person and Online)

10:00 AM – Sunday’s KIDS (incorporated into outdoor worship)

In case of inclement weather, we will revert to the current schedule:

9:30 AM – Sunday’s KIDS online

10:00 AM – Sunday Worship online

4. The E-Meal Ministry has now served over 30,000 meals to our neighbors in need!

5. We are in need of more E-Meal volunteers to cover packaging and  distribution shifts. Please consider stepping up to serve and sign up on our SignUpGenius page.

6. Thank you for keeping up your offerings and for making good use of our E- giving process. If you haven’t enrolled, I invite you to do so by clicking here.
